Newly Admitted Students Day 2026

26 June, 2026

On June 24, CERGE-EI hosted a welcoming and networking event for newly admitted students of the PhD in Economics, Master in Economic Research, and Bachelor program Economics of Markets and Organizations

Faculty members, researchers, current students, and incoming students met in the CERGE-EI atrium for informal conversations about studying, research, and life at CERGE-EI. The event gave the newly admitted students an opportunity to get a sense of the academic environment they will join in the fall — from coursework and thesis writing to seminars, supervision, and day-to-day collaboration.

In his remarks, CERGE-EI Director Marek Kapička emphasized the values that define study and research at CERGE-EI: “At CERGE-EI, you are joining an environment that values curiosity, rigor, and the courage to ask better questions. Over the coming years, we will help you build the skills, mindset, and confidence needed to think clearly, argue carefully, and approach economic problems that rarely come with easy answers.”

He also welcomed students of the Bachelor program Economics of Markets and Organizations to CERGE-EI, run in cooperation with the Prague University of Economics and Business, to CERGE-EI for the very first time, and congratulated the Master in Economic Research students who had successfully completed their thesis defenses earlier that day.

We look forward to welcoming the full new cohorts at the end of September for Orientation Week.
